A press conference devoted to the preparation for the elections of deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and Local Councils was held at the Press Center of Surkhandarya Regional Territorial Election Commission.

At the event, which was attended by representatives of the central media and local journalists, the Chairperson of the Regional Territorial Election Commission Zebuniso Alimardonova provided detailed information on preparations for the parliamentary and local elections to be held on October 27 this year.

– To organize the election process at a high level, held under the slogan “My choice is my prosperous Homeland”, a territorial election commission was formed in the region, which outlined its calendar plan, – says Ms. Alimardonova. – In accordance with this, 15 district and city election commissions, 50 district election commissions for elections to the Regional Council of People’s Deputies, 865 precinct election commissions consisting of 257 members were formed within the established time frame.  The district and city election commissions include 478 members, and precinct election commissions – 9451 people. In addition, six single-mandate districts have been formed in the region to hold elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Views were exchanged on such issues as the effective use of digital technologies, a unified electronic voter list, the role of the “E-saylov” information system in managing the electoral process, ongoing work to improve the knowledge and skills of members of election commissions on national electoral legislation and practice, international election standards, early voting. The participants also received answers to their questions.

As part of the conference, a press tour was organized to the polling station No.251 established at Termez State University. The visitors received detailed information about the preparation for the elections.
