Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Head of the Commission on Gender Equality, Tanzila Narbayeva, took part in Generation Equality Forum.

The forum, taking place in Paris, is dedicated to gender equality issues and is hosted by UN Women under the co-chairmanship of France and Mexico in partnership with civil society. It is attended by heads of foreign states, representatives of world parliaments, international organizations, civil society, young leaders, and the private sector.

Mrs. Tanzila Narbayeva noted that a legislative framework to improve the status of women is created in Uzbekistan. The Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality until 2030 has been approved. Purposeful work is underway to promote women to leadership positions, strengthen their reproductive health, ensure their employment and state protection from oppression and violence. The Program for providing housing for those in need is being implemented.

The forum participants discussed issues on prevention of violence, ensuring rights and justice in the labor sphere, reproductive health, gender equality in the context of technology development, access to education and knowledge.
