Uzbekistan, Tajikistan enhance collaboration in the sericulture industry

The Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Development of Sericulture and the Wool Industry held a meeting with members of the delegation consisting of representatives of the Executive Committee of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tajikistan, Tojikpilla organization’s leadership, as well as UNIDO representatives.

It should be noted that members of the delegation have already visited Uzbekistan in January this year to become familiar with the development of the sericulture industry in Fergana and Surkhandarya regions.

The guests visited mulberry plantations, the exhibition showroom of Uzbekipaksanoat Association, got acquainted with products made of national silk.

The parties exchanged views on the results achieved in recent years, economic reforms, attracted foreign investments, work on expanding the fodder base, in particular mulberry plantations, their efficient and rational use.

The guests who visited Uzbekistan for the second time to study the experience in sericulture and continue cooperation recognized that Uzbekistan is a country with high potential in the field of sericulture.

“We harvest cocoons once a year”, said the head of Tojikpilla organization Nazirsho Nazarov. – Now, having studied the experience of Uzbekistan, we plan to increase the production of cocoons up to 2-3 times a year. To do this, we started working with the expansion of the feed base and the purchase of 50,000 mulberry seedlings. We intend to grow them in Tajikistan. Within the framework of cooperation with the Committee of Uzbekistan for the Development of Sericulture and the Wool Industry, a memorandum was signed and a joint venture will be established soon. During the visit, we received full and detailed information about the fundamental reforms being carried out in the sphere. We will put all the recommendations into practice.

The delegation's visit to Uzbekistan continues. Its members will take part in the events of the national campaign “Green Year”, organized on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, will get acquainted with mulberry plantations, the work of cocoon processing enterprises in the regions.
