The Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismoilov met with a delegation led by the Deputy Chairwoman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Muini Mavsuma Muinzoda.
The head of the delegation expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that the visit was fruitful, and highly appreciated the effective reforms implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to increase the socio-political activity of women, expand their participation in public administration, and provide them with equal rights and opportunities.
“The Asian Women’s Forum, held in Samarkand at a high level, brought together leading women not only from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, but also from all Asian countries, and became an important platform for the exchange of best practices to increase the role of women in society”, says Muini Mavsuma Muinzoda. “We have witnessed that in New Uzbekistan, issues of expanding women’s economic opportunities, fully realizing their leadership and entrepreneurial potential, and providing them with modern knowledge are being systematically addressed. We believe that the bilateral cooperation meetings held with representatives of the parliament of Uzbekistan within the framework of the forum will take our inter-parliamentary relations to a new level”.
The meeting in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis contributed to expanding cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments. Members of the delegation were informed about the reforms being implemented within the framework of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy, the implementation of the norms of the renewed Constitution, and the activities of the lower chamber. It was noted that thanks to mutual trust and solid political will of the two countries’ leaders, unprecedented successes have been achieved in strengthening fraternal ties. During the recent visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Tajikistan, an Agreement on Allied Relations was signed.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Uzbekistan Abdujabbor Rakhmonzoda emphasized that through joint efforts, bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, transport and communications, energy and medicine has reached a new level. The participation of the Tajik side in the Energy Week held these days in Uzbekistan, as well as the participation of 51 doctors from Tajikistan in the second Eurasian Forum on Oncourology, held in Samarkand in April, are evidence of the establishment of closer cooperation in all areas.
Issues of further expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation were considered through holding regular meetings of Friendship Groups and committees of the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, increasing the role of the deputy corps in document inventory, and exchanging experience in rule-making. The parties agreed to continue mutual support and practical cooperation within the framework of international parliamentary organizations, particularly on gender equality, protection of women’s rights, education, and youth policy.
