On May 16-19, 2023, the First International Student Statistics Festival and the First International Student Olympiad in Statistics were held at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in Moscow.

Two teams of Uzbekistan students took part in these events organized by the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States within the framework of the CIS Statistics Development project.

The teams participated with videos “I – Uzbekistan!” and performances in the statistics quiz. At the next stage, they passed tests individually and the economics exam.

According to the results, both student teams performed successfully and won two nominations. Iroda Ismailova’s scientific work under the guidance of U.Kamoliddinov on the current trends in the demographic situation in the CIS countries and their impact on the institution of the family won the nomination for “Best Regional Research” in the CIS. In addition, Abdulhamid Yusufaliyev's scientific research on the statistical assessment of Uzbekistan's investment position received a prize in the nomination for “Unconventional approach in statistical research”.

Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Ilkhom Nematov, who took part in awarding the winners, highly appreciated the scientific potential of Uzbekistan students in statistics and wished them great victories in the future.
