Uzbekistan strengthens international environmental cooperation at the Zero Waste Forum in Türkiye

A delegation from Uzbekistan, headed by the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Aziz Abdukhakimov, took part in the international Zero Waste Forum held in Türkiye.

The event, organized by the international community to promote the principles of waste-free production, waste recycling, and sustainable development, brought together high-ranking UN officials, ministers, experts, entrepreneurs, and representatives of scientific and public circles from various countries.

As part of the forum, the Uzbekistan delegation visited the exhibition “Zero Waste – Global Commitment” and participated in the plenary session dedicated to the further development of the “Zero Waste” concept.

On the sidelines of the forum, Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov held meetings with Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the UN-Habitat, Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University (USA), Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of Türkiye, and İbrahim Yumaklı, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye.

The parties discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of environmental protection, the implementation of green technologies, sustainable land use, and the exchange of scientific research.

The Uzbekistan delegation presented national programs for the development of the green economy, transition to renewable energy sources, and waste reduction. Special attention was given to initiatives aimed at fulfilling climate commitments and promoting the principles of sustainable use of natural resources.
