Uzbekistan specializes international airports

The development strategy of Uzbekistan airports until 2035 provides for the specialization of the country’s international airports. This was discussed at the presentation of projects in the transport sector.

Tashkent Airport is planned to be developed as an international hub, Navoi Airport will become a cargo hub, Samarkand and Bukhara airports will become tourist ones.

Recently, a new air terminal complex of the Samarkand International Airport was put into operation. The arrival hall of the Karshi Airport has been updated. Terminal No. 2 of the Tashkent International Airport has been reconstructed, and its capacity has doubled. 

The master plan of the “Tashkent-Vostochny” airport was also discussed at the presentation. Information was provided about the projects for the construction of new passenger terminals at the airports of Bukhara and Urgench, as well as about the organization of a regional low-cost airline. 

It is planned to build a new international airport in Fergana Valley, which will become one for all three regions – Andijan, Namangan and Fergana. The President of the country instructed to expand the list of services provided at airports and improve their quality, as well as ensure affordable prices.
