Uzbekistan, South Korea establish cooperation in fire safety
17:34 / 2020-12-18

Research Institute of Fire Safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan and Korea Fire Safety Institute have held a virtual meeting with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan.

At the event, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for further cooperation in fire safety, as well as developed a draft Plan for cooperation in fire safety between the two agencies for 2021-2022. The sides agreed to sign the draft of this Plan in the first quarter of 2021 through diplomatic channels.

Participants noted the positive dynamics of consistent development of cooperation despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In April this year, a Memorandum of Understanding in fire safety was signed between the parties through diplomatic channels. In October, Korea Fire Safety Institute sent 150 sets of protective medical equipment as a humanitarian aid to support its colleagues in Uzbekistan.

Issues of further cooperation in standardization, certification and testing of products for fire-technical and rescue purposes, participation of representatives of the Research Institute of Fire Safety at Fire & Safety Expo, which is planned to be held in Korea in 2021 were also discussed at the meeting.

The South Korean side invited Uzbekistan specialists to attend Asia Fire-Protection Inspection Council Meeting, in November 2021.
