Uzbekistan, South Korea businesspeople discuss priority areas of cooperation

Syrdarya region’s Hokim Gofurjon Mirzayev has received a South Korean delegation led by the First Deputy Chairman of Korea Uzbekistan Business Association (KUBA) Kim Chang Keon.

The meeting was held with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul to establish a long-term partnership with KUBA under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea.

KUBA leadership proposed to implement a project for the production of environmentally friendly raw materials and packaging materials from the biodegradable film. Based on the experience of South Korea, Mr. Kim Chang Keon noted that the issue of environmental pollution is being raised with the increasing pace of industrial and economic development. In this regard, at the moment, it is particularly important to create facilities for the production of environmentally friendly materials (biodegradable plastic and others). 

Hokim of the region expressed his readiness to work out the issue of implementation of the presented investment project. He also proposed to implement this project on the territory of Syrdarya FEZ, where foreign investors are provided with tax and customs preferences. It is also noted that environmentally friendly materials are in great demand not only in the domestic market, but also in foreign markets.

The parties agreed on a joint work plan for 2021, including the conduction of negotiations and discussions on promising investment and social projects.
