Uzbekistan, Singapore expand cooperation areas

First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev met with a delegation led by the Senior Minister of State of Trade and Industry, and National Development of the Republic of Singapore, Koh Poh Koon.

On February 5, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev met with a delegation led by the Senior Minister of State of Trade and Industry, and National Development of the Republic of Singapore, Koh Poh Koon.

Guests were told about large-scale reforms carried out in all areas under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It was noted that the results achieved significantly change the life of our people for the better.

It was emphasized that in the process of transformation it is important to study the experience of Singapore, including in further improvement of public administration, and the fight against corruption.

Koh Poh Koon noted that the international community, in particular the people of Singapore, are watching with great interest the enormous socio-economic and political transformations taking place in recent years in Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that the ongoing democratic changes in the country will become an important factor in strengthening cooperation with foreign countries, including with Singapore.

At the meeting, an agreement was reached on further expanding relations between the two countries, establishing cooperation with higher education institutions of Singapore for training qualified personnel, especially for improving the skills of civil servants.

The issue of opening a direct flight between Uzbekistan and Singapore was also discussed. It was emphasized that the establishment of regular air links between the two countries will not only strengthen friendly relations, but also open up great opportunities for tourism development.
