Uzbekistan sends cargo to Europe via the Trans-Caspian route for the first time
The first container block train departed from Uzbekistan to the port of Burgas, Bulgaria, along the Middle transport corridor, East Fruit reports.
“The freight train consists of 46 cars and 91 units of 20-foot containers with copper concentrate. The container train will move along the route Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan – Georgia – Bulgaria/Europe with a length of more than 4,000 km”, the report says.

The Middle Corridor, also called the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, began operating in 2017. It is an alternative to the Russian Trans-Siberian Railway in terms of delivering goods from China to Europe.
The corridor runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to Türkiye and European countries.
