As previously reported, today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Ramadan Meeting will be held in cooperation between the Union of OIC News Agencies and the Muslim World League.
Ahead of this meeting, a brief discussion was held between the Director General of the Union of OIC News Agencies, Mohammed bin Abdrabuh Al-Yami, the head of the Oman News Agency, Ibrahim Salim Al Salmi, and the Director General of the Uzbekistan National News Agency, Abdusaid Kuchimov.
The Director General of the Union of OIC News Agencies spoke about the friendly relations between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan, our shared historical heritage, and our great scholars.
“I have had the privilege of visiting Samarkand and Bukhara”, he said. “I visited the sacred sites associated with Imam Bukhari and other great scholars. These holy and historical places are of incomparable significance not only for the Islamic world but for the civilization of all humanity”.
He also noted that cooperation with Uzbekistan is an important strategic direction for Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia.
“We constantly follow the reforms being implemented by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the openness in foreign policy and international initiatives. The Uzbek leader’s activities on the international stage, including his recent visits and meetings in the United States, have been widely covered by our media resources. You know, every change taking place in your country evokes among Saudis a sense of closeness, as if these processes were happening in their own home”, said Mohammed bin Abdrabuh Al-Yami.
According to him, this indicates that the spiritual and cultural ties between our countries are growing stronger.
“We are interested in expanding cooperation in the information sector. Developing bilateral relations, intensifying information exchange, implementing joint media projects, and improving journalists’ professional skills are among our priority tasks. In particular, forming a unified information space among the countries of the Islamic world and delivering objective and reliable information through modern media formats are of special importance”, he added.
The Union of OIC News Agencies is an international information structure operating within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, with 57 member states, including Uzbekistan. UNA-OIC aims to strengthen institutional cooperation among the national news agencies of the Islamic world. Various media services are implemented within the Union. In particular, news is distributed in more than 50 languages through the Saudi Arabia News Express. In addition, live broadcasts and special information materials are provided during the Hajj and Umrah.
