Uzbekistan’s parliamentary delegation attends the IPA CIS Council meeting
Parliamentary delegation led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldoshev attended the meeting of the Council and the 49th plenary meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, held on April 18-19, in Saint Petersburg.
Parliamentary delegation led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldoshev attended the meeting of the Council and the 49th plenary meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, held on April 18-19, in Saint Petersburg.
On April 18, 2019, within the framework of the meeting of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, an international conference was held on countering international terrorism.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, the Head of the parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan noted that international terrorism has become one of the most urgent problems of the modern world, which has acquired a global character and affects the interests of the entire international community.
The parliamentarians of the CIS countries and international parliamentary structures were informed of Uzbekistan’s approaches in the fight against international terrorism. In this context, the principled position of Uzbekistan in the fight against terrorism, the ideology of extremism and radicalism was noted.
The unanimous support by the international community of the resolution “Enlightenment and religious tolerance”, adopted on December 12, 2018 at the session of the UN General Assembly, initiated by the President of Uzbekistan was noted.

As a logical continuation of countering terrorism, the importance of activities on rehabilitating and reintegrating those who mistakenly embarked on the path of violence was emphasized.
On April 19, at the 49th plenary meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, the previously agreed agenda issues were considered and adopted. At the meeting it was announced that Uzbekistan has ratified the IPA CIS Convention and became a full member of the Assembly.
According to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on the same day, meetings of the IPA CIS Permanent Commissions were held.
