240 delegates from 40 countries arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the forum organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Regional Dialogue international organization, Gazprombank and other organizations.

The forum is attended by representatives of the United States, Austria, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland, Canada, Moldova, Ukraine, Malta, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, UAE, China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, national experts and heads of the Ministries of Justice, the legislative system of the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Russia, Afghanistan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and leading arbitration centers.

At the opening ceremony of the forum, which brought together more than a thousand lawyers, the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ruslanbek Davletov, Chairman of the American – Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm and others noted that reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan are recognized by the international community.

The legal system is being developed in accordance with the ongoing reforms. The forum will be of great importance in development of the sphere at the level of international standards.

In his speech, the Minister of Justice drew attention to the issue of the legal protection of investments and noted that every investor arriving in Uzbekistan should have legal protection. Taking advantage of the presence of a large number of lawyers, he stated that this is one of our main tasks. Every investor entering Uzbekistan with his investments should be well aware of the situation that awaits him. And this, that is, guarantees of legal protection, should be provided to investors by lawyers.

Within the framework of the forum, the winners of the competition “The Best Corporate Law Service” announced by the Ministry of Justice were awarded. The third place was taken by the law service of Samarkand Automobile Plant, the second – the law service of JSCB “Uzsanoatqurilishbank”, the first – the legal service of LUKOIL Uzbekistan Operating Co.

On the first day of the forum, sessions of participants were held. Vies were exchanged on the international arbitration and trial, forensic examination, law services, international ratings, investments, world’s best practice in public-private partnership.
