On February 18-23, Uzbekistan’s government delegation will be in Brussels on a working visit, including Director of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan O. Khakimov, Project Manager of the Institute of Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (IFMR) O. Olimjonov and Vice-Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy G. Ismailova.

The delegation will clarify the main provisions of the annual Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis, the forwarded initiatives, ongoing democratic reforms aimed at forming a new Uzbekistan.

At the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Brussels, O. Khakimov made a presentation on “Foreign Policy of Uzbekistan: Interests, principles and expected results from deepening cooperation with global and regional trade-economic organizations (WTO and EAEU)”.

According to CERR, during the visit of the delegation, O. Khakimov noted the benefits of WTO membership for Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, participants were also provided with detailed information about the impact of trade policy changes on the macroeconomic indicators of Uzbekistan with a possible entry into the EAEU.

In conclusion, it was noted that sustainable economic growth cannot be achieved without export support and access to new markets. Under these conditions, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the need for resetting the foreign policy and foreign economic strategy to create favorable conditions for the export of goods.
