16:31 / 2025-10-16

The 10th meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the Federation Council of Russia and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan was held in Kazan.

The parties discussed ways to develop interparliamentary cooperation, expand interregional interaction in the trade, economic, educational, agricultural, and humanitarian spheres, and promote tourism exchange between the two countries.

It was noted that in January-July 2025, the volume of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Russia increased by 6.5% compared to the previous year, while Uzbekistan’s exports grew by 17%.

Currently, 14 branches of leading Russian universities operate in Uzbekistan, with more than 20,000 students enrolled.

The parties also emphasized the importance of strengthening interregional partnerships, highlighting that cooperation, particularly with Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Moscow, and Samara regions, serves as a driving force in bilateral relations.

The participants also emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in the supply of environmentally friendly agricultural products to the Russian market, improve the transport and logistics system, and simplify phytosanitary requirements.

Special attention was given to issues such as expanding tourism exchange, implementing joint projects, and simplifying transport and visa procedures.

It was noted that cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, including cultural exchange, youth initiatives, and the promotion of dialogue among women parliamentarians, contributes to strengthening friendship and mutual trust between the peoples of the two countries.
