Tashkent hosted a meeting of the Сhairman of Uzcharmsanoat Association Fakhriddin Boboyev and the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Uzbekistan Konstantin Zlygostev.

The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in the leather and shoe industry.

Over the past 5 years, the export of leather and footwear products from Uzbekistan has grown more than 4 times and by the end of 2022 amounted to $450 million.

The investment potential of the industry was also noted at the meeting.

In 2022, the volume of investments amounted to more than $200 million. It is planned that by 2026 this figure will reach 1 billion.

Following the meeting, the parties exchanged invitations to the upcoming events – the 14th International Exhibition UzCharmExpo – ShoesStar Eurasia 2023 (April 5-7, 2023, Tashkent) and the 16th International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2023” (May 18-19, 2023, Kazan).
