Uzbekistan, Russia Deputy Heads of Government discuss prospects for enhancing partnership

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk.

According to Uzbekistan MIFT, the parties discussed a broad agenda of multifaceted cooperation, as well as the implementation of existing agreements in the investment, trade and economic, financial, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The parties highly appreciated the activity of bilateral contacts at the governmental level and noted the mutual interest of the businesspeople of the two countries in the consistent strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation in all priority areas.

The activity of the Project Office, created between the MIFT and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia for further deepening of industrial collaboration and expansion of investment cooperation, were considered. 104 projects worth $5.8 billion are at the stage of practical implementation.

The parties also discussed the prospects for enhancing the partnership by covering new areas for establishing interaction between the relevant ministries and agencies of the two countries.

Following the meeting, agreements were signed on the provision of gratuitous technical assistance by Russia to Uzbekistan in the development of the tax administration system and the improvement of the state cadastral valuation system. The total amount of grant funds raised under these agreements amounted to about $60 million.
