Uzbekistan, Romania develop diplomatic relations
16:48 / 2022-10-07

On October 6, Uzbekistan and Romania celebrated the Day of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Diplomatic relations were established 4 years after the official Bucharest recognized Uzbekistan’s independence. Since 1999, the Embassy of Romania has been operating in Tashkent.

The legal framework between the two countries is the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation of 1994 and the Agreement on Economic, Industrial and Technical Cooperation of 2013. The Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Romania and Uzbekistan, signed on June 6, 1996, stipulates that bilateral relations are based on the principles of friendship, mutual trust, cooperation and mutual respect.

The history of Romanian diplomacy has deep roots. In July this year, the 160th anniversary of the country's diplomacy was widely celebrated in Bucharest and the country's foreign missions. As part of the celebration of this day, a 44-volume collection on the history, culture and art of Romania will be handed over to the Alisher Navoi National Library in Tashkent.
