Uzbekistan rises by 19 positions in the SDG Index
10:13 / 2025-12-26

Food security plays a crucial role in ensuring national stability, population well-being, and national security.

The National Center for Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation, in cooperation with the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Ministry of Agriculture, Tashkent State Agrarian University, and the Association “Women in Agricultural Sector” of Uzbekistan, held a scientific-practical conference “Achieving Sustainable Development Goals by ensuring food and industrial security in the context of global climate change”.

Mavludakhon Khodjayeva, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, reported on activities undertaken to improve legislation on food and industrial safety in the context of global climate change and on the adoption of regulatory legal acts.

As noted, the newly adopted Law “On Food Safety”, in its new edition, is designed to implement this system in accordance with international standards, strengthen the responsibility of food business operators, and ensure product quality and safety.

Because ensuring the safety of food products and goods is essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, Uzbekistan’s position in the Global Food Security Index has consistently improved. The country has improved its performance in the 2025 Sustainable Development Goals Index, rising 19 positions from the previous year. Since 2015, Uzbekistan has been considered an actively developing country within the CIS and Eastern European region.
