Ambassador Javlon Vakhabov, together with the First Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Industry Association, Mirmukhsin Sultanov, and representatives of the domestic textile industry, took part in the 2022 Traceability and Sustainability Conference organized by the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) in Pittsburgh, PA.
The annual conference also brought together representatives of leading textile brands in the U.S., Canada and other countries, retailers of clothing and footwear, heads of textile associations and experts in the field of transparency in supply chains.
Uzbekistan's textile industry was represented by members of the Textile and Garment Industry Association, such as Samarkand Apparel, Nil Granit and Haj Textile.
Talks were held with leading brands of clothing products and retailers in the United States and Canada: American Eagle, Canada Goose, Haggar, Fruit of the Loom, SPANKS and Tapestry.
Consultations were held with AAFA President Steve Lamar and representatives of Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production and Bureau Veritas Sustainability Solutions.
During the talks, American brands expressed interest in establishing partnerships with domestic manufacturers and participating in the 5th UzTextileExpo Autumn 2022, to be held in Tashkent on 12-14 October.
