09:35 / 2022-02-12

The Second Global Disability Summit will take place on 16-17 February.

Due to the pandemic, the event will be held online. The summit is expected to be attended by the heads of state and government, officials from relevant ministries and agencies, representatives of the private sector and civil society activists.

The summit aims to promote the requirements of inclusive development under the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The governments of Norway and Ghana and the International Disability Alliance (IDA) invited Uzbekistan. The event will be attended by representatives of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The First Global Disability Summit was organized in 2018 by the UK and Kenya. It was attended by representatives of 171 countries. Summit participants made 968 commitments aimed at integrating people with disabilities into society. A Charter for Change was adopted to promote the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The charter has been signed by more than 300 representatives of governments and organizations around the world.
