Uzbekistan, Poland to hold Intergovernmental Commission Meeting

The 7th Meeting of Uzbekistan – Poland Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation will be held on April 14, via videoconference.

The meeting will be chaired by the Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Badriddin Abidov and the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economic Development, Labour and Technology of Poland Robert Tomanek.

The meeting will be attended by representatives of ministries, agencies and organizations of the parties. Within the framework of the event, it is planned to discuss issues of trade, economic, interregional cooperation. The main attention will be paid to issues of cooperation in industry, transport, agriculture, environmental protection, IT technologies.

Particular attention is planned to be paid to assistance to the agro-industrial complex of Uzbekistan in the modernization and development of agriculture, the development and implementation of a strategy for diversification of the agricultural sector, and the development of intensive horticulture.

The parties will also consider the issue of increasing exports of textile, fruit and vegetable products to Poland, including the opening of textile trading houses in Uzbekistan.

Particular emphasis will be placed on investment and innovation cooperation in energy efficiency and energy conservation, the creation of new technologies in the production of building materials, the agro-industrial area, in the banking and financial, transport and logistics, tourism sectors.

The parties will exchange information on the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan and Poland, as well as discuss obstacles to the development of economic cooperation.
