A delegation of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, led by Bogdan Borusewicz, Chairman of the Emigration Affairs and Contacts with Poles Abroad Committee, paid a visit to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting with Alisher Azamkhojayev, Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism, the parties discussed ways to expand cooperation between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Poland, strengthen historical ties of friendship between the peoples of the two countries, and intensify relations in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Special attention was given to increasing trade turnover between the two countries through interparliamentary cooperation, expanding exports of national products to EU markets, establishing trade houses, and implementing joint projects in the fields of trade, economy, investment, tourism, education, and interregional cooperation.
Particular emphasis was placed on the compassion and hospitality shown by the Uzbek people toward Polish citizens deported to Uzbekistan during World War II. The memory of the Poles buried on Uzbek soil was honored with deep respect.
Bogdan Borusewicz expressed his profound gratitude to the people of Uzbekistan for the humanitarian assistance provided to the Polish nation during World War II, as well as for the care given to Polish burial sites in the country and the ongoing efforts to preserve and maintain them.
