Uzbekistan plans to increase the share of women among management personnel to almost one-third
10:44 / 2023-12-27

In Uzbekistan, by 2030, it is planned to increase to 30% the share of women among management personnel of every government agency, organization, and enterprise, including executive authorities, the judicial system, and law enforcement, including executive bodies of state enterprises, boards of directors, and supervisory boards.

According to the Norma.uz portal, this measure is provided for in the resolution adopted by the President “On additional measures to strengthen the family and increase the activity of women”.

From February 1, 2024, educational institutions organize training courses for women starting to engage in home-based work and handicrafts, with the involvement of experienced home-based workers and artisans at the expense of the State Trust Fund for the Support of Family and Women. At the same time, the state covers up to 70% of the educational costs spent on each graduate who has studied professions in educational organizations.

After undergoing state registration as a business entity (production and sale of modern national clothing), from January 1, 2024, unemployed women are covered in payments for the first three months of rent of buildings and premises. The funds are allocated by the Foundation for Attracting the Population to Entrepreneurship.

From January 1, women are allowed to work in civil society institutions as clerks for up to 11 months based on paid public work. In addition, from the beginning of the year, the category of people in need of social protection, having difficulty finding work, and unable to compete on equal terms in the labor market includes people who have suffered from family (domestic) violence. Jobs for these categories of persons are reserved by organizations (employers).

A judicial corps will also be formed, specialized in considering family conflicts, in interdistrict civil courts based on advanced foreign experience.
