Islamabad hosted the seventh round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The delegations of the parties were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Aftab Qureshi.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of a multifaceted strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
Mutual interest in deepening cooperation in trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian spheres was confirmed.
The parties also discussed the implementation of major investment projects, in particular the construction of Termez– Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway line.
The commitment was expressed to enhance interaction in the Afghan direction, in particular, in the provision of humanitarian and other assistance to the Afghan people.
Other issues on the common agenda were also considered, the schedule of joint events was agreed upon.
