Uzbekistan national team won seven medals – one gold, two silver and four bronze at the Asian Track Cycling Championship, held in Jakarta on January 8-13.
Uzbekistan national team won seven medals – one gold, two silver and four bronze at the Asian Track Cycling Championship, held in Jakarta on January 8-13.
This championship became the most successful in the history of cycling in Uzbekistan. Following the results of the first day of the championship, Olga Zabelinskaya won the first gold for Uzbekistan with 70 points. The next day, the athlete won silver in the individual time trial. On the same day, Yanina Kuskova was awarded the bronze medal in the individual time trial among juniors. In addition, Y.Kuskova, participating in the Asian Championship for the first time, won silver in the group points race.
On the fourth day of the championship, O.Zabelinskaya in the discipline omnium won a bronze medal. On the last day of the championship she and Yekaterina Knebeleva won a bronze medal in the doubles race.
Muradjon Khalmuradov won a bronze medal in the men’s group race.
This is the best result of the national team in the Asian championship. Coach Rustam Nuritdinov, junior coach Vadim Shaykhov and mechanical trainer Alexey Smirnov prepared the team for the championship.
Uzbekistan Cycling Federation expresses gratitude to the National Committee of Uzbekistan, the OSCE and the Women’s Committee of the country for support.
These championships provide rating points for athletes to participate in the 32nd Olympic and 16th Paralympic Games to be held in 2020 in Tokyo.
