Uzbekistan moves to full cotton processing

International Press Club hosted an open dialogue with participation of the leaders of “Uztuqimachiliksanoat” (Uzbekistan Textile Industry) Association on “Uzbekistan’s textile industry: an analysis of the results of the year and new challenges”.
At the session, it was noted that today the textile, clothing and knitwear industries are strategically important and rapidly developing sectors of the national economy. Main priority is to ensure full cotton processing.
At the event it was emphasized that in order to develop the textile industry, foreign and joint ventures on production of yarn were created and equipped with modern technologies. New industrial enterprises mastered production of about 80 types of products. Over 70 percent of textile enterprises have implemented ISO and EKO systems.
Large consumers of Uzbekistan’s textile industry are Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Turkey and the European Union. The Association, together with local authorities, will monitor and analyze industries and territorial enterprises, the activities of export agencies.
At the session, problems of textile industry were thoroughly analyzed, issues of interest to entrepreneurs were discussed and shortcomings regarding the potential of personnel were criticized.
