Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur organized a videoconference between the leadership of the State Committee for Tourism Development of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia to exchange experience in increasing tourist attractiveness and promoting ziyorat tourism.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Ravshan Usmanov and Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Ulugbek Azamov, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Noor Zari Hamat.
Noor Zari Hamat stressed that the country’s borders remain closed until January 1, 2021, with a possible extension of the timeline until the situation with the pandemic in Malaysia and the world stabilizes. In this regard, according to the Malaysian side, the issue of sending tourists in both directions is currently premature.
Following the meeting, agreements were reached on the organization of webinars for representatives of Uzbekistan tourism industry on development of ziyorat tourism, “muslim friendly” and “halal tourism” standards, resumption of flights between Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur.
The parties will also promote the tourism potential of Uzbekistan and Malaysia through social networks and digital platforms of the two countries on a parity basis and jointly develop specific proposals and mechanisms for creating an Uzbekistan – Malaysian center for staff training and exchange of experience in tourism.
The parties will establish an exchange of information on best practices in tourism, including measures taken to restore the tourism industry, as well as preserve cultural heritage sites.
