Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) and Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM), via videoconference.

The event was attended by the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, NCHR Director Akmal Saidov, SUHAKAM Chairman Tan Sri Othman bin Hashim, Ambassador of Malaysia to Uzbekistan Hendi Assan and Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov.

Tan Sri Othman bin Hashim noted that the date of the signing of the Memorandum between NCHR and SUHAKAM coincided with the International Human Rights Day, which is celebrated annually on December 10 all over the world.

SUHAKAM Chairman emphasized that this Memorandum will further enhance and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation between the agencies of the two countries in ensuring human rights.

Following the event, an agreement was reached on continuation of constructive cooperation between NCHR and SUHAKAM, including by enhancing interaction within international organizations and mutual support of the parties’ initiatives.
