Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan develop a strategic partnership
19:37 / 2024-05-24

Close, good-neighborly, time-tested fraternal relations of strategic partnership are rapidly developing between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The strong political will of the two countries’ presidents serves as an essential foundation for this.

This was stressed at the meeting between Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan, and Nurlanbek Shakiev, Chair of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Issues of further development of cooperation between parliaments were discussed at the meeting, which took place within the framework of the working visit of the Chairperson of the Senate to Bishkek.

In particular, views were exchanged on intensifying the work of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, which facilitates the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level using the institute of parliamentary control.

In addition, a strong emphasis was placed on the active participation of local deputies in the activities of the Council of Heads of the Border Regions of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. This proposal aims to improve the effectiveness of the partnership.

Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to expand cooperation within the framework of international interparliamentary structures.
