Uzbekistan, Korea develop collaboration in cultural heritage management

“Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand hosted an Uzbekistan – Korean Symposium “Sustainable management of cultural heritage in Uzbekistan”.

The event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, Director-General of the Heritage Promotion Bureau of the Cultural Heritage Administration of the Republic of Korea Yi Kyung Hoon, Program Manager of the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation Kim Dong Ha, heads of museums and galleries of Uzbekistan, and leading industry experts.

“Since 2020, the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea has implemented Official Development Assistance projects aimed at preserving, developing the conservation of cultural heritage”, says Samariddin Mustafokulov, Director-General of Samarkand State Museum-Reserve. – Within the framework of the projects, the restoration laboratory of the State Museum of the History of Culture of Uzbekistan was modernized, more than 120 pieces of equipment for the restoration of ceramic and metal products were imported and installed from Korea. Projects for the development of archaeological tourism have been developed for 2022-2026.

“We have completed the first part of the project”, says the Director-General of the Heritage Promotion Bureau of the Cultural Heritage Administration of the Republic of Korea Yi Kyung Hoon. – I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who participated in the project. We intend to strengthen cooperation.
