Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan discuss pilgrimage tourism development issues

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Aktau (Kazakhstan) together with the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan held a virtual roundtable discussion on “The role of Islam in the modern world” to develop interregional cooperation in religious education and the development of relations between Karakalpakstan, Khorezm and Mangystau regions.

Representatives of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region spoke about the activities of mosques in their territories and the religious education of imams. Detailed information was provided on the activities of religious representatives for nature protection, their contribution to solving social problems.

Information was provided on the activities of the religious educational institution of madrasah named after Muhammad ibn Ahmad Beruni in Nukus. Participants focused on the training of Khatib imams, the exchange of experience in this field and the contribution of this educational institution to the development of religion in Karakalpakstan.

In turn, the Kazakh side thanked the Uzbek side for organizing the event and expressed satisfaction with the work carried out in the religious sphere in Karakalpakstan.

The parties exchanged views on the development of pilgrimage tourism between the two nations.
