Judo fans will remember the unique moments of the sixth day of the World Judo Championships in Uzbekistan.

During the day, two of our compatriots fought for medals.

Iriskhon Kurbanbayeva, who claims a prize in the 78 kg weight category among women, had her first fight with Poland’s Beata Pacut-Kloczko. In regular time, which passed in an equal fight, none of the athletes could achieve a result, and in extra time, luck was on the side of the European representative.

The title of world champion won by Davlat Bobonov gave Muzaffarbek Turaboyev confidence in the championships, who demonstrated the superiority of spirit in every fight. He defeated the representative of the United States, then Georgia, on the eve of the semi-final – an athlete from Canada and in the semi-final – the Netherlands, went to the final.

The fight between our compatriot and Canadian Kyle Reyes was held in a very tough fight, even though the Canadian athlete is 31st in the ranking of the International Judo Federation, and Turaboyev is 27th. Muzaffarbek is the champion of the military, and his rival is among the youth. The fact that both champions, having defeated all their rivals, leading judokas, met in the final of the 35th World Championships was a real event. Uzbekistan’s talented athlete, having shown the will to win, overcame the athlete from Canada in the last seconds.

The medal of Turaboyev at the World Championships became the 2nd gold award in the treasury of the Uzbekistan team and provided the team of the country with 3rd place among 82 countries.
