Uzbekistan, Japan strengthen collaboration

The University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted an international conference “Uzbekistan – Japan: 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and prospects for strengthening strategic cooperation”.

The conference was attended by senators, ambassadors, deputy ministers, representatives of higher education institutions, state and non-state organizations of the two countries.

First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodik Safoyev noted that the historic visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Japan in 2019 opened up new horizons for strategic partnership between the two countries. Japan is an important economic partner of Uzbekistan, having the most advanced technologies and experience in various sectors of the economy. For the development of Uzbekistan, the business ethics of Japanese companies, high requirements for product quality and rejection of corruption are of particular importance.

The participants made a special emphasis on cooperation within the framework of the inter-parliamentary forum “Uzbekistan – Japan”, proposed to consider holding its next meeting in 2022 in Uzbekistan. The parties discussed issues of strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, cooperation in education, further development of the investment and business environment, interaction on holding the “Year of Uzbekistan in Japan”, “Year of Japan in Uzbekistan”.
