During the visit of Uzbekistan delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov to Japan, a meeting was held with the Chancellor of Toyo University Incorporated Educational Institution Shinji Fukukawa and President of the University Etsuko Yaguchi.
Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov informed the representatives of the Japanese University about the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in tourism development and preservation of the country’s cultural heritage. He also presented information about innovations in the activities of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand.

The Japanese side highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s initiative to allocate 85 state grants to citizens of the Silk Road countries to study at the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
The participants agreed to conduct research in tourism, including the restoration of Buddhist monuments, archaeological excavations and scientific workshops.
The leadership and professors of Toyo University will visit Uzbekistan to get acquainted with the tourism and educational potential of the country.
Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage and Toyo University. It provides for academic cooperation, joint research, and the introduction of Japan’s best practices in tourism.
