Uzbekistan, Japan enhance collaboration in agriculture

Uzbekistan diplomats visited Japan’s Tahara city in Aichi Prefecture to promote economic diplomacy, attract foreign investment in the economy, as well as increase Uzbekistan’s export potential.

At the meeting with Tahara Mayor Masayoshi Yamashita, the investment potential of Uzbekistan, as well as the results achieved over the past four years in economic liberalization, improvement of macroeconomic indicators, conditions for investors and businesspeople, benefits and preferences for investors was presented. Detailed information was provided about the renewed Uzbekistan, reforms in agriculture and the development of value chain clusters.

Mayor Masayoshi Yamashita, noting that this is the first visit of representatives of the CIS countries to Tahara, emphasized interest in establishing cooperation and enhancing the partnership with Uzbekistan cities. Following the talks, an agreement was reached on the preparation of proposals for the joint study of issues of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Meetings were also held with the leadership of the agricultural cooperative Aichi Minami, the Agricultural Committee of the city of Tahara on the exchange of experience in growing various crops and establishing cooperation with the ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the Embassy also got acquainted with greenhouses specializing in the cultivation of Japanese melons and figs. The technology of growing popular varieties of melons and figs in Japan was studied in detail.

Negotiations were also held with the leadership of Takamura Company, which produces natto from soybeans, a well-known and popular product in Japan.

The technology of production and its production possibilities in Uzbekistan, including from soybeans grown in the country, were studied in detail.
