On May 18, 2021, Deputy Foreign Minister Gayrat Fazilov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Uzbekistan Agostino Pinna.

The current state and prospects for the development of relations in the political, economic, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres were discussed at the meeting.

The main attention was paid to strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, the continuation of cooperation, including within the framework of Italy – Central Asia format, the UN and its structures.

The Italian side welcomed the participation of Uzbekistan delegation in the opening ceremony of the XVII Venice Architecture Biennale and the National pavilion of Uzbekistan on “Mahalla: Urban and Provincial Life” on May 20 this year, as well as the development of inter-university cooperation, including the study of the opening of a branch of the Luigi Vanvitelli University of Campania in Bukhara and the University of Pisa as part of the University of Geological Sciences in Tashkent.

The parties also considered other current issues of Uzbekistan – Italy agenda.
