Uzbekistan and Italy are exchanging scientific experience in agriculture and water resources management.
The Development Strategy Center, jointly with the Embassy of Italy in Uzbekistan, organized a roundtable discussion on “Uzbekistan – Italy: expanding the scientific network” at the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent.
The event was attended by a delegation led by Federico Failla, Coordinator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, and experts from leading think tanks.
Practical aspects of the Ecological and Socio-Economic Restoration of the Aral Sea Region Program, implemented by the Italian government in Uzbekistan, were considered at the event. The parties also discussed the current trends in agriculture and water resources management.
Proposals were presented for further development of cooperation in such areas as organizing summer schools and conducting online courses in Uzbekistan and Italy for professors and teachers of leading higher education institutions and employees of research institutions in agriculture and water resources management in both countries.
The Sogesid representatives and relevant ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan exchanged views at the event. Following the meeting, several measures for effective water resources management were proposed, and prospects for developing multilateral cooperation between Central Asia and Italy were discussed.
