The Saudi Press Agency reported on the details of the meeting between the Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov, which took place within the framework of the Global Dialogue Forum in Saudi Arabia.

The article noted that agreements on education and road infrastructure development had been signed with this influential financial institution.

Based on the agreement aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of educational services, Uzbekistan has been allocated $160.25 million to equip 58 schools with laboratory equipment, furniture, and digital infrastructure, including the creation of 2,431 classrooms, reforming the mechanism for improving students’ skills and developing curricula. This process aims to introduce an inclusive education model to create equal educational opportunities for young people.

Under the second agreement, the Islamic Development Bank will allocate $138.80 million for the reconstruction and development of the A373 road project. By 2030, travel time will be reduced by 50 percent to 30 minutes. As a result, the number of accidents will decrease by 40 percent. The existing four-lane two-way road will be upgraded to meet the growing demand for transportation. The project will allow cooperation to develop with neighboring countries by expanding regional trade routes.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the timely implementation of priority projects, the current status of initiatives, and the work that needs to be carried out.
