Uzbekistan is in the top ten in the extraction of gold, copper, and uranium

More than 50 conferences and meetings are organized by research and analytical centers, the business community, ministries, and agencies within the framework of the International Partnership Initiatives Week “New Uzbekistan: Development, Innovation and Enlightenment”.

At the session “Reforms in mining and geology of Uzbekistan: results and prospects”, the participants analyzed the development of geology and the mining and metallurgical industry, the creation of a chain for the extraction of rare metals and raw materials, technological production, taking into account the relevance of green energy.

Geologically, 35 percent of the mountainous and foothill regions have been studied. In 2017-2022, studies were carried out on 31,000 square kilometers.

“The mining industry is one of the leading areas”, says Azam Kadirkhodjayev, Deputy Minister of Mining and Geology. – Thanks to the establishment of effective public administration, and the provision of services at the level of international standards, Uzbekistan is among the top ten countries in the extraction of gold, copper, and uranium.

To increase the extraction of minerals until 2030, geological exploration will be carried out on 58,000 square kilometers, and the level of general exploration of mountainous and foothill areas will be increased to 78.4 percent.

Information was provided about cooperation with Germany, France, Türkiye, the development of a mining code with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the content of this document.

Uzbekistan has many mines with raw materials necessary for producing electric vehicles and solar panels. This indicates the great potential of Uzbekistan for the development of green energy.

The event participants expressed positive opinions on establishing 6 types of electronic public services in ground and surface water use and electronic registration of permits.
