A meeting of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Affairs, Foreign Investments, and Tourism was held.
The session focused on the draft law “On the ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates on legal assistance in civil and commercial matters (Tashkent, September 27, 2024)”.
It was noted that the agreement, subject to ratification, establishes cooperation between the two countries in providing legal assistance in civil and commercial matters. It also ensures equal legal protection for the citizens of both states within each other’s territories. It enables them to appeal to judicial and law enforcement authorities in civil and commercial cases.
Additionally, the agreement sets procedures for legal assistance in matters such as dispute resolution between citizens and the recognition and enforcement of judicial decisions.
Senators emphasized that the ratification of this agreement will elevate cooperation between the two countries to a new level, aimed at providing legal assistance in civil and economic matters.
During the session, the Committee reviewed the draft law “On the ratification of the agreement on establishing the civil protection mechanism of the Organization of Turkic States (Bishkek, November 6, 2024)”.
The agreement establishes the legal framework and mechanisms for fostering practical cooperation among emergency response agencies of the member states. It aims to coordinate rapid search and rescue operations during natural disasters, systematize the results of monitoring and analysis, and facilitate mutual exchange of experience in this field.
According to the senators, this law will serve as a foundation for intergovernmental cooperation to more effectively organize measures for emergency preparedness within the country, address the socio-economic challenges of natural disasters, and ensure regional security.
Following the session, which was attended by senators, members of the standing commissions of local Councils of People’s Deputies, specialists and experts, and media representatives, the Committee adopted the corresponding resolutions.
