Magnanimity is one of the high values that unite people and call for peace and harmony. It means kindness and generosity towards others. The Uzbek nation's generosity is recognised and praised by nations of the world. More than 130 nationalities and ethnic groups live in peace and harmony in Uzbekistan thanks to the rule of law, the observance of everyone's rights and liberties as well as Uzbek people's generosity.

Ethnic Turkmen citizens of Uzbekistan have been living shoulder to shoulder with Uzbeks for centuries. Their language, history and moral values are similar to those of Uzbeks. Their contribution to the development of the country is also incomparable. Because there is always respect for these ethnic Turkmen people who consider Uzbekistan their home country and Uzbeks their close relatives. Taking into consideration their desire to keep their unique traditions, culture and language, the republic's Turkmen cultural centre was established just after the country became independent.

In Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, inter-ethnic accord and respect for all nationalities living outside their ancestral homeland are ensured. There are about 170 thousand ethnic Turkmen people living in Uzbekistan. More than 8 thousand ethnic Turkmen children study at 46 schools where Turkmen language lessons are provided. There are also 24 Turkmen-language schools. In Uzbekistan, the republican Turkmen cultural centre's 7 sections are working.

Friendly relations between the two nations are based on cultural similarity, mutual understanding and trust. Here 25 years of work of the republican international cultural centre directed towards such good goals as keeping inter-ethnic accord and equality should be noted especially.

"We came to Uzbekistan 30 years ago. I got education in this country, started a family, and my children are growing here. I consider Uzbekistan my home country. In this magnanimous country, ethnic Turkmen people as all the other ethnic groups living here enjoy great care and respect. Special educational establishments were founded for ethnic Turkmen citizens of Uzbekistan. We are very grateful for the possibility to preserve Turkmen national customs and traditions," says Gulnoz Bozorova living in Chilonzor District of the capital city.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan is developing consistently. Under cultural and humanitarian cooperation programmes between the governments of the two states, artistes and cultural sphere representatives of the countries actively participate in various concerts, festivals, contests and forums. In the 2009 Melodies of the East international music festival, Turkmen singer Lale Beknazarova won the highest award. And in the festival of the year 2011, the "Galkinish" creative group took third place.

"We are glad that the Turkmen-language Aydin Yol newspaper is published at the Qoraqalpoghiston branch of your country's Turkmen cultural centre. It is also noteworthy that the Orzu music and dance ensemble work there. We were all interested in the cultural centre's exhibitions of Turkmen national applied arts and craftsmanship, famous Turkmen carpets and pictures by Turkmen artists," says Yekaterina Geldimurodova, executive secretary of the Dunyo Adabiyoti (world literature) magazine of Turkmenistan.

The multi-ethnic nation of Uzbekistan work conscientiously for this land's destiny and development. They love their Motherland. As enshrined in the Constitution of Uzbekistan, the languages, customs and traditions of all the ethnic groups and nationalities living in the country are respected, and all the necessary conditions have been created for their development. Thanks to these, peace and harmony reign in the country.
