Uzbekistan officials and WADA leadership met in Tashkent as part of the 19th Asia/Oceania Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting on Anti-Doping in Sports (WADA).
At a meeting organized with the participation of the head of the Department of Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Odil Abdurakhmonov, representatives of WADA led by Witold Bańka, Minister of Sports Adham Ikramov, Secretary General of Uzbekistan NOC Oybek Qosimov, Director of the National Anti-Doping Agency Abdushukur Sodiqov, several issues related to cooperation in the fight against doping were discussed.

The reforms being implemented under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in New Uzbekistan and the ongoing work to support physical education and sports were discussed at the meeting. It was noted that efforts to develop sports are yielding results. Athletes of Uzbekistan achieve high results on the world stage.

The President of WADA, Witold Bańka, said that as the international results of Uzbek athletes grow, the scope of the work of anti-doping specialists expands.
During the dialogue, it was noted that Uzbekistan is among the countries with great opportunities to improve the knowledge of international doping officers, protect athletes from prohibited substances, and train qualified personnel.
