On December 3 this year, the 12th meeting of Uzbekistan – India Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical cooperation was held via videoconference.
The meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan L. Kudratov and the Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of India Bidyut Behari Swain.
The current state and prospects for further strengthening cooperation in trade, economic, investment, transport and logistics spheres, as well as measures taken by the governments of the two countries to mitigate the economic consequences of the global crisis associated with the pandemic, were discussed at the meeting.
The parties noted with satisfaction the observed trends in expansion of investment, trade and economic cooperation. In 2019, the volume of attracted Indian investments increased by 17%, and the trade turnover increased by 24%.
At the meeting, agreements were reached on the accelerated start of financing 41 projects in healthcare, primary, secondary and higher education, implemented at the expense of Indian grant funds, and the launch of a number of projects for the development of infrastructure and social sphere, co-financed by the Export-Import Bank of India.
