The 14th Uzbekistan – India political consultations has taken place via videoconference.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uzbekistan delegation was headed by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Farkhod Arziyev, the Indian delegation – by Vikas Swarup, Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs.

The parties discussed the state and prospects for development of Uzbekistan – India multifaceted relations, and considered the schedule, agenda and organizational aspects of the upcoming joint events at various levels.

Views were exchanged on the issues of interaction within the UN, SCO and other multilateral structures, ensuring regional security and stability.

The Indian side expressed support for the initiatives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, forwarded within the UN and SCO.

Particular attention was paid to issues of further development of trade and economic cooperation, which has shown significant growth in recent years.

Increasing investment interaction and attracting advanced technologies in creation of new modern industries in various sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan was considered.

The current level of cooperation in tourism, education, technology, sports, healthcare and personnel training was also discussed.

The parties welcomed the opening of branches of Amity and Sharda universities in Uzbekistan, confirmed their mutual interest in enhancing cooperation in this area by opening branches of other universities and joint departments in specialized higher education institutions of Uzbekistan. An agreement was reached on further deepening cultural dialogue, including through holding Culture Days in both countries.
