Prospects for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Hungary, including interparliamentary cooperation, were discussed at the meeting.

The Uzbek and Hungarian peoples share common historical roots and close ties of cooperation. In recent years, thanks to the firm political will of the heads of state and their high-level meetings, the Uzbekistan – Hungary strategic partnership and practical cooperation have been consistently developing, and an active dialogue continues at all levels.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Hungary in May this year expanded the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries and brought bilateral relations to a new level.

During the conversation, the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber informed the guest about the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan within the framework of the renewed Constitution and the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy, as well as the structure of the Legislative Chamber, its activities in lawmaking, and parliamentary oversight.

In turn, István Jakab expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and highlighted the large-scale reforms implemented in the country in recent years under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In particular, he emphasized that the cities of Tashkent and Samarkand are becoming centers of international diplomacy, hosting major global events, including forums, summits, and conferences.

– Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary is developing dynamically. We are following with great interest the transformations taking place in your country. The processes taking place in all spheres, including the sphere of parliamentarism, capture our attention. Hungary stands for the comprehensive development of cooperation with Uzbekistan”, István Jakab said.

During the dialogue, the need to deepen bilateral relations, effectively use the potential of parliamentary diplomacy, and establish contacts between relevant committees to exchange experience in lawmaking was emphasized.
