Uzbekistan hosts International Tolerance Week

Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries hosted an International Tolerance Week “Enlightenment and International Tolerance”.

Committees on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries, and on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Culture, Public Education, the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment and other organizations have held an International Tolerance Week “Enlightenment and International Tolerance”.

Briefings, cultural, humanitarian, spiritual, enlightenment and scientific-practical events, contests and exhibitions were held.

An international online conference “Study and popularization of the historical values ​​of the states of the region in ensuring religious tolerance” was organized. It was attended by the heads of diplomatic corps, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, experts and scientists of foreign countries in interethnic relations, heads of ministries and agencies, chairmen of National Cultural Centers, Friendship Societies and media representatives.

Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries, Rustambek Kurbanov, provided detailed information on the essence and significance of the state policy in ensuring interethnic harmony in society. He noted that strengthening interethnic and inter-confessional understanding and harmony, education of the younger generation on this basis is defined as one of the most important priorities of the state policy. 

The role of National Cultural Centers and Friendship Societies with Foreign Countries in formation of religious tolerance and development of friendly ties with Central Asia, the historical roots of religious tolerance in the region were discussed.

An exhibition of folk applied art of various National Cultural Centers has been held at the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries.

Representatives of the best expositions were awarded diplomas and valuable prizes.
