Uzbekistan hosts Elders Week under the motto “Honoring, respect for the elders is a noble feature of our people” as part of the implementation of the Presidential Resolution “On measures to support the media and develop journalism”, as well as by the statement of the Cabinet of Ministers of September 26, 2022.

In this regard, the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan organized an event on “A country where teachers are valued”. It was attended by journalists who have been working in the media for many years, veterans of journalism – teachers of higher education institutions, as well as selfless representatives of the sphere who are currently teaching young people in newspapers and magazines, online publications, on television and radio channels, public representatives.

Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan Olimjon Usarov, Director of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Asadjon Khodjayev noted that support for the media is under the constant attention of the Head of the state.

At the event, the Director General of Uzbekistan National News Agency Abdusaid Kuchimov, a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, an outstanding writer and journalist Khurshid Dustmuhammad noted that honorary journalists serve not only as an example, but also as a school for young people, and this, in turn, has great importance for the development of national media.

At the event, a video was shown dedicated to the blessed memory of journalists who made a worthy contribution to the development of national journalism.

A group of jubilee journalists was presented with gifts from the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan, and another group received certificates of membership in the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan.
