On January 26, 2018, a ceremony of signing Joint communiqué on establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal was held in New York city, USA.

On January 26, 2018, a ceremony of signing Joint communiqué on establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal was held in New York city, USA. On behalf of the governments of the two countries the document was signed by permanent representatives of Uzbekistan and Nepal to the UN.

The document notes that "The Republic of Uzbekistan and Nepal, desiring to develop and strengthen mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation between the two countries, guided by the goals and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, decided to establish diplomatic relations, in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations of April 18, 1961 and the Vienna Convention on consular relations of April 24, 1963".

Nepal became the 134th country with which our country has established diplomatic relations.
